The Rohingya community in Chicago

Approximately 25% of all Rohingya in the United States live in Chicago’s West Ridge neighborhood? This community has grown substantially since 2010, with over 600 Rohingya families resettled in Chicago.

Many Rohingya refugees have found refuge in Chicago after fleeing persecution and violence in Myanmar.⁴ The community has settled primarily in the Rogers Park neighborhood on Chicago’s North Side, which is now home to one of the largest concentrations of Rohingya in the country.
